Guided tours are a great way to experience the Memorial. Tours are free of charge and available April 1st - mid-November, weather permitting. We are honored to have four Veterans from the Munster VFW Post 2697 who have graciously volunteered their time to conduct the tours. Among them, they have actively served in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. They started leading the tours in May 2015 and have since hosted groups from high schools, elementary schools, Cub and Boy Scout troops, and Veteran service organizations. With guests ranging from 5 to 95 years of age, the Veterans are happy to tailor material to fit the group, class or curriculum.

"Loved the place. Wanted to spend more time reading. What a super job they did here. One of the best Memorials I've ever seen." ~ Jack Roderick - United States Navy Pilot 1956 - 1968 (2 tours in Vietnam)

"I've been to Memorials all over the country over many years. This was one of the best. Needed more time to read." ~ Ray Moore - World War II, United States Army Air Corp 1942 - 1945 - 398th Bomb Group (29 bombing missions on B17's).

"I was blown away. I was totally unprepared for what I saw. The thought that went into each display and the sculptures showed so much realism. I hope that everyone who sees it comes to realize there's no glory in war." ~ Hank Winkler - United States Navy 1961 - 1967 (Vietnam)

"The way it is laid out is fantastic. Very descriptive and forced us to relive many memories. Both pleasant and heartfelt. I would recommend everyone to visit and take the time to read the bricks etc. Definitely a reminder that "Freedom isn't Free." ~ Herschel Luckinbill - United States Navy 1964 – 1967, USS O'Brien DD725 (1st ship to receive shore battery gun fire in 1966)

"Visiting the War Memorial with our second graders was an amazing learning experience for our students. We expected to be guided through by one Veteran, but instead was delighted to have three Veteran's spend several hours explaining each section of the memorial to our students and they shared many stories from their own experiences. Our students were forever changed, as were we." ~ Christine Cashen, 2nd grade teacher, Hosford Park Elementary School, Lake Ridge Schools.
