Tours

The Memorial is open to the public 365 days a year, from dawn to dusk. Individuals and groups are invited for self-guided tours in which several stations provide pre-recorded information about the defining wars of the 20th Century. A commemorative brick pathway leads visitors on their journey through time.

Events

The Veterans of Foreign Wars, Munster Post 2697, along with the American Legion Post 16, hold several ceremonies at the Community Veterans Memorial.

Munster Post 2697 will be joined by American Legion Post 16, the Munster High School Band and the Munster High School Beginning Men’s choir for a remembrance service.

Salute to the Union at sunset (approximately 8:25 pm).

Worn and tattered flags will be accepted for proper retirement. The collection site is located behind the Vietnam section at the Memorial.

The ceremony will include a 3 Volley Salute (rifles) with TAPS at 11 am. “The War To End All Wars” ended in armistice, which took effect on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, 1918.
